the importance of awareness when reacting

It can be elementary to respond without taking the time to listen to what someone is saying to the point where we don’t truly hear what we are being told. Cutting someone off mid-convo and speaking over them can be so easy. Yes, we may be excited to ask a question or comment with our opinion. However, it’s just as easy to react defensively within a conversation.

We’re taught when we’re children to respond in various ways. All this information has mended within our minds, it travels with most of us. Throughout our lives, along with new expressions we experience within the later moments and current present. This can lead us to live with personal rules created by our egos that can be misunderstood at times and misunderstood by both ourselves and the people within our lives.

Recognizing our negative traits can be difficult although beneficial for our mental health and growth. When truly captivated by a conversation the need to cut someone off isn’t necessary and when conversations are used to their full potential it brings doses of unnoticed beauty from within.

Awareness of how we communicate, in both our listening capabilities and the diversity within our thoughts brought to speech, leads us so far. Although this skill is so powerful it’s not hard to see why breaking the systematic process society set up thousands of years ago may be one of the most distinct challenges.

Taking time to grow our skills in listening and expression builds our minds. Allows people in our lives to know that we are a safe space for them. We encourage all of our readers to remember that we have the choice to choose how we react when bursts of negativity are met. If emotional intelligence is an interest of yours, build the skill. It’s extremely important to take the opportunities we’re granted, we miss all the shots that we automatically choose not to shoot. Change is a virtue.
